Production Glassfibre is the biggest company in Britain supplying glassfibre component to Water Treatment plants throughout the UK, but here’s a different kind of Water Treatment solution! Not so big a contract as we’re familiar with perhaps, but demanding in its own way none-the-less. The Time Capsule in Coatbridge is a typical ‘leisure’ pool, with little room for swimming but a variety of ways to have frivolous aquatic fun.

The recent International Caravan & Motorhome Show held at Birmingham's ubiquitous exhibition centre highlighted Production Glassfibre’s growing presence in this important leisure sector. Various panels and products made at our Chorley factory could be found on 5 different stands- some exterior, some interior, mostly in white, but on the Stealth Caravans stand, in black!
We’ve gained the business from these companies by delivering a superior level of service commitment and a higher consistency of product quality than they had ever previously experienced.

Sometimes the best plans ARE the late ones!!! Despite the deal only coming together 8 days before the start of the event, the Production Glassfibre supported Ferrari of MJC Racing triumphed in Britain’s toughest motor race, defeating a crack team of Austrian professionals by less than a minute after 24 hours of racing.

After a season on the sidelines after failing to find a budget to continue in Touring Cars this year, Jonny Adam made his 2010 debut by guesting in the Ginetta G50 race at Knockhill. Supported at his home track by Production Glassfibre (who incidentally are now supplying the replacement panels for all G50’s as well as 40’s!!) remarkably, Jonny put the car on pole despite the presence of the works driver and 09 champion, and despite never having sat in it before the weekend.

It’s a small milestone, but never has cutting a hole seemed so significant!! After the usual months and money seemingly ‘wasted’ with lawyers and surveyors, Production Glassfibre has at last gained access to the new factory at Chorley and begun fitting it out as a state of the art manufacturing facility. The list of things to be done is long- mezzanines, extraction, ovens, spray booths, racking, curtains, offices, flooring, furniture, fencing and on and on and on, but the first hole in the roof to feed through the first piece of ducting was a symbolically significant moment.

Production Glassfibre is pleased to declare that we’ve achieved an interesting vehicular hat-trick! Having manufactured Ambulance Bodies for several years and Fire Engine Bodies for several months, we can now complete the trio of emergency services with our first order for a Police Vehicle component. Perhaps not as grand as the other two projects, we’re never the less proud to be providing Mellor Coachcraft with the ‘hard’ rear interior mouldings for a patrol car which allows the Service to detain suspects in a non-damageable, wash-down environment, which is also bereft of hiding places for weapons or ‘substances’.

Now here’s an interesting piece of
work!!! Complex curves we’re well used
to, and in the last Review we showed some pretty massive mouldings going to
cover a sewage works in Cyprus,
but combining size and sophistication makes for something special! This giant and another five like it, will
eventually find its way to the London Olympic Pool in time for a concrete pour
which should end up looking like the Diving Boards in the illustration below.
Iranian Architect Zaha Hadid was tasked with
designing a landmark building for the Games, and she certainly hasn’t ignored
the interior! Presently being
manufactured at our factory in Altham, Production Glassfibre were uniquely competent to undertake such a project having
premises big enough, a workforce experienced enough and technical staff clever
enough to make sure the multi-piece, many-angled, massively strong ‘shutters’
are right first time and delivered on schedule.

As part of the strategic plan for Production Glassfibre’s North of England business, a lease has been signed on a new factory in Chorley, Lancashire. The new 50,000sqft facility, has excellent access to both the M6 and the M62, and will house the work presently undertaken at the Altham and Skelmersdale factories, as has been the plan since the acquisition of the WL Cunliffe business.
